Baseline GVL — an indoor pickleball facility — is coming to the Haywood Road area

We sat down with the creators of Baseline GVL. The indoor facility — featuring 16 temperature controlled courts, a pro shop, and lessons — is a pretty big dill.

Baseline GVL, a new indoor pickleball facility, is coming to the Haywood Road area at 8 Gladys Dr.

We sat down with the managing members + director of operations about the upcoming project.

Why Greenville?

“Greenville has always been a welcoming community. A facility like this which creates a place where people can go and make new relationships is very much in people’s DNA. It’s a very sports minded area, and we think it’s going to be a great place,” managing member Dave Benore told us.

What makes this facility special?

Chandler Benore, a former pickleball pro and director of operations, told us, “A ton of research went into the facility. We brought in different pickleball players — travelers and non travelers — and spent a lot of time on the quality of the courts.”

“We visited a lot of facilities in the southeast and put a lot of thought into the materials that will go into this facility, meaning court prep, slabs, what type of surface we’re putting down, spacing between the courts, and quality of nets,” Dave said. “This all plays a big part in making a premiere pickleball facility.”

“We didn’t want to be just a food and beverage facility that you could play pickleball at, but we did add features to the facility that will allow people to gather — pre-play and post-play — with a smoothie and juice bar, a pro shop, and an outdoor patio.”

What will the facility feature?

  • 16 temperature controlled courts
  • Ball machine rentals
  • Lessons and leagues
  • Memberships
  • A pro shop
  • Complimentary coffee

The courts will have nine-layers of cushion in the flooring, high-tech lighting, and an “ample parking lot.”

No exact opening date has been announced, but a private groundbreaking is scheduled for early April. Zero zero start.
