Starting May 1, the weekend trolley has new stops. Here’s what you need to know.

Greenlink wants to increase ridership on the free downtown trolley by 20% from June to December, and they’re making some changes to achieve it.

“If we can’t pick up another 1,500 people with the trolley on Main Street in six or seven months, then we probably don’t need to have a trolley on Main Street,” Greenlink Executive Director James Keel said, according to The Post and Courier Greenville.

What’s changing?

Starting May 1, you’ll see a streamlined loop running on Main Street with turnarounds at East North Street and Wardlaw Street. The new route no longer serves spots like Unity Park, the library, or West Greenville.

Service times are:

  • Friday: 5-10 p.m.
  • Saturday: 1-10 p.m.
  • Sunday: 1-8 p.m.

You can track arrivals in real time online or using the Transit app and Greenlink’s text alerts.

Why?

The goal is quicker, more reliable service where the action is. Two trolleys will run continuously (no fixed schedule), making it easier to hop on and off between shops, restaurants, and events — even when Main Street is closed to cars.
