#TryThis: TopGolf Greenville, opening Friday, April 26, 2019

TopGolf Greenville was officially proposed in late 2018 and will come to life this Friday, April 26, 2019.

What’s TopGolf?

Think sports bar, meets driving range, meets Dave and Busters. Basically, it’s a multi-story interactive driving range where friends and golfers of all skill levels can compete against each other by trying to land golf balls on various greens throughout the fairway.

Last night, the GVLtoday team was invited to TopGolf Greenville’s media night for a behind-the-scenes look before it officially opens later this Spring. Here’s why you should #TryThis.

One word: Epic. That’s how we’d describe walking into TopGolf Greenville. The entire place is lit up like the Vegas strip. Outside of having I-85 behind you, it gives you that “We’re not in Kansas Greenville anymore” feeling.

What we tried

The bar–
It came as no surprise, but TopGolf has a fully stocked sports bar. We’re talking TV’s from floor to ceiling, bars on all three floors, “Golfbags” (yes, it’s a drink) the whole nine yards.

Food–
The menu has an arrangement of classic American bar food, but since we got to try everything on it, we would most definitely suggest the Bacon Jam + Cheddar Sliders.

The game–
If we had to sum this up, TopGolf is the epitome of golf-tech; and no, we’re not talking about the performance polo’s for sale in the gift shop. Each ball that is fed to you (via a wave of the golf club) is microchipped so that you can track exactly where it landed, how far it went and how well you’re hitting compared to the rest of your group. Here’s a guide to scoring and pre-programmed games. Bonus: You can bring your own golf clubs, or use TopGolf’s for free.

Cost–
TopGolf pricing varies per location, but typically falls between $25-35 per hour, per bay (not per person) + your one-time $5 membership fee. Up to 6 people can play, and up to 8 people can hang out per bay.

What we’re still talking about

The atmosphere. Grab your kids, spouse, friends, even your goofy uncle; everyone will have fun. My fiance has never swung a golf club and still scored points by hitting the closer targets.

How you can experience this

TopGolf plans to officially open to the public this spring (a press release is planned to announce the date next week). Want to be the first to know when the venue will open? Click here to sign up for TopGolf mobile alerts.
