Miss Sue — beloved employee of Brick Street Cafe — has officially retired after 30 years at the West End institution.

Known for her work ethic, famous chicken salad, and — of course — sweet potato cake, Miss Sue was the restaurant’s first employee. Touching so many people over the past three decades, it’s no surprise her retirement party at the cafe on Thursday, Jan. 30 was filled with love from the community, emotional speeches of gratitude, and delicious food.

As for what’s next, Miss Sue turns 94 this year + tells us she’ll be doing “a little of this and a little of that” in her newfound free time.
