Why The Village dropped “of West Greenville”

The residential neighborhood is still known as The Village of West Greenville, but the businesses wanted an identity that differentiated from Greenville’s The West End.

The Village of West Greenville’s business district is dropping “of West Greenville.” It’s just The Village now.

This isn’t a rebranding of the residential neighborhood, which is rich in mill history, but rather a refresh for the 150+ businesses along the neighborhood’s commercial corridor. The goal is to distinguish The Village from Greenville’s historic West End, so restaurants, artists, and business owners can say, “You can find us in The Village,” and people know exactly where to go.

Cadency — a student-led marketing agency at Clemson — explored the area’s history, conducted surveys, and spoke with business owners to develop the new logo and website.
