This section of trail is expected to get an upgrade this year.

Greenville City Council is moving forward with plans to add new trails. At its annual retreat, leaders discussed 12 upcoming projects in the works, including four that are expected to start construction in 2025:

  • Prisma Health Swamp Rabbit Trail Orange Line Extension — A 2-mile connector to the North Main neighborhood is in the works, with the 18-month design process slated to begin in March.
  • Wheeled-Sports Park — An upcoming 10-acre park for sports like skateboarding + biking will be located near the Greenville Downtown Airport. At the start of the year, the city asked for design submissions.
  • Prisma Health Swamp Rabbit Trail Phase 1 Upgrades — This nine-month enhancement project is expected to begin in March to widen and add mobility features to a heavily used half-mile segment that connects Unity Park to downtown.
  • Airport Loop Trail — This upcoming 4.5-mile project has been in the works for a while, but the city is expected to conduct a feasibility test this spring.

City Council also discussed three projects that are underway + five aspirational trails that haven’t been approved yet. Check out all 12 trails at Greenville Journal.
