Greenville is working on a new master planand this one’s for spaces we all love a lot. The city has kicked off planning for its first-ever comprehensive plan for parks, recreation, and tourism. The goal is to serve as a road map for “quality parks, green spaces, recreation facilities, and programs” across our community.

They’ll be digging into data, listening to you, and helping set clear goals for key issues like:

  • Safeguarding Greenville’s natural resources — from clean energy and river health to expanded trails, greener parks, and a stronger tree canopy
  • Setting aside as much as 35% of the city’s remaining vacant land for open space and parkland to protect quality of life
  • Ensuring parks, facilities, and programs are accessible and welcoming to everyone
  • Weaving diversity, equity, and inclusion into every initiative
  • Growing opportunities for arts, culture, and community events that bring people together

If you’ve been to a local park, the TD Saturday Market, Main Street Fridays, or even the zoo, you may have seen representatives collecting feedback and survey data to help identify priorities for the master plan. You can also provide input by taking this survey.
