While we aren’t done with 2018 yet – hello Christmas, Kwanzaa + New Years Eve – we are already starting to reflect on the past year.

2018 was filled with big news, from industrial hemp farming to the opening of the first LEGO Store in S.C. It’s been a wild ride – but we won’t be sad to see it go when there’s so much to look forward to in 2019.

Our crystal ball may not always be accurate, but there are a few things we already know about the next year (besides the fact that I’ll give up on the gym by February). Greenville is getting some new businesses in the new year, and we’re beyond excited.

Here are 10 openings next year that we’re most looking forward to:

Coastal Crust’s brick-and-mortar location | Early 2019 | The pizza food truck is finally opening a storefront location in the redeveloped Mutual Home Store of Greenville space in the Village of West Greenville (1254 Pendleton St.). It’ll feature communal tables (perfect for splitting a pie) and outdoor space with tile flooring, fans, and heaters. 🍕

Flying Biscuit Cafe | Spring 2019 | This new restaurant in the West End (656 S. Main St., next to the Army & Navy Store) is a favorite at its Charlotte + Atlanta locations – and now we’ll get to enjoy all-day breakfast and lunch with casual dishes that include salads and sandwiches, breakfast bowls, oatmeal pancakes, and biscuits (of course).

Gather GVL | Spring 2019 | 12 of the 13 restaurant units in this West End food hall (126 Augusta St.) have already been claimed, and the last unit may serve as a rotating incubator for local chefs. Future tenants include HenDough (chicken + donuts), Rocky Moo (ice cream sandwiches), and The Pasta Addict.

Poe West | Summer 2019 | The ~60,000 sq. ft. former Poe West Hardware & Supply Co. at 556 Perry Ave. in the Village of West Greenville will be fully renovated into a “collaborative environment” anchored by an educational tenant + including creative office space, retail, restaurants, a brewery, and community green space.

Topgolf | Summer 2019 | Think sports bar, meets driving range, meets Dave & Buster’s. Basically, it’s a multi-story interactive driving range where friends and golfers of all skill levels can compete against each other by trying to land golf balls on various greens throughout the fairway. ⛳ It’ll be at Pelham Rd. + I-85.

  • P.S. Jay Haas + his son Jay Jr. (with investment from PGA golfer Bill Haas) have transformed the Eagle Zone driving range on Pelham Rd. into a golf training center with upgraded tech and facilities. It’s 2 miles away from Topgolf.

Eagle Mountain Winery | Late 2019 | A boutique winery that’ll be modeled after Pippin Hill Farm & Vineyards in Virginia (pictured below). Its location will be in north Greenville County near Landrum on Highway 11 – with 40-mile views of the Blue Ridge Mountains and close proximity to three state parks (making it a perfect stop after a day of hiking).

Holland Park | Late 2019 | The 12-acre development coming to 813 Laurens Rd. (half a mile from Willy Taco) will include Home Team BBQ, Double Stamp Brewery, the half-acre Oak Tree Park (featuring existing 100-year-old oak trees) + office, retail and restaurant space. 🌳

Cross Winds Golf Course renovation | Late 2019 | Cross Winds Golf Course – an 18-hole par 3 – has been in biz since 1997 (61 Villa Rd., across from the Greenville downtown airport). Its $2.5 million renovation project includes a new two-story, 5,530 sq. ft. clubhouse to replace the existing check-in building, which will feature a full-service restaurant + bar and a rooftop deck with a tee boxwe might just start playing golf in 2019.

Markley Station | Throughout 2019 | Clemson fave Todaro Pizza is already open in this mixed-use hub at 116-120 N. Markley St. in the West End, but next year we can expect the additions of Urban Wren (a new local urban winery) + Hoppin’, a Charlotte-based self-serve tap room, as well as outdoor entertainment space in the courtyard.

If 2019 means dining on dishes from Rick Erwin Dining Group while in Haywood Mall, I think it’s gonna be a good year. Tell us the opening you’re anticipating most in the comments below. ⬇️
