Last week, Upstate Business Journal shared the news that a virtual reality arcade is opening in downtown Greenville. Wantec VR will soon bring full-body virtual reality experiences to 928 S Main St., the former location of the Organic Cat Café. So, whether you’re a VR-pro or you’ve never tried on a set of those signature goggles – we wanted to take a look at what this new wave arcade experience will bring.

Let’s talk tech. According to Wantec VR’s website, they have 9-piece full body tracking system capabilities – which means you won’t only see a virtual world through the headset, but the motion of your body will be incorporated in the experience. They also describe their tech as free-roam, so for games where you’re physically moving, you can navigate the extensive gaming spaces “100% barrier-free.”

Wantec VR will offer a variety of games that are 45 min. long. Here are two of the games we’re most excited to try:

Lost Sanctuary

  • An adventure game for ages 10+
  • Participants: 1-4
  • Description: “Players can dive into the wonderful world: the lost city, mysterious caves and almost impassable labyrinths.”

RaceRoom

  • A motion racing simulator for all ages
  • Participants: 1-12
  • Description: “Bucket seats, steering and pedal units, integrated widescreen monitors, realistic racing cars, original race tracks and a massive sound system catapult players into the impressive world of racing.”

There are games available for kids + adults. So whether it’s a birthday party, a corporate retreat, first date, you name it – Wantec VR will bring a new experience to the table. Wantec VR is scheduled to open March 28.
