Upstate Pride: More than just a parade

NYC pride 1

In 2008, Upstate Pride was formed to support and empower individuals of all gender expressions and sexual identities throughout our area. This Saturday, join together with LGBTQIA+ people of the Upstate for a peaceful one-mile march at 11 a.m. (be sure to start lining up along Converse St around 10:30) in downtown Spartanburg.

The march ends at Barnet Park, where drag personality/philanthropist Patti O’Furniture will introduce local performers and pageant winners like Mr. Upstate Pride SC titleholders Shane Grant + Bigg Poppah. Stick around to see Upstate drag performers, like AmanDuh Pleaze and Rylee Hunty, as well as musicians and bands like April B. & the Cool, Darby Wilcox, and DJ Kels.

At 3 p.m., five female contestants from the reality show, RuPaul’s Drag Race, will take the stage. They will also be available for a meet and greet in the VIP Tent. VIP tickets start at $25 and include complimentary drinks + souvenirs.

Don’t miss the family-friendly Official After Party in partnership with Pardon Moi French and AmanDuh Pleaze at the Spartanburg Marriott from 6 p.m. to 1 a.m. All five of the RuPaul’s Drag Race performers will be there as well.
