Saturday night, roughly an hour after the festivities wrapped up at Fall for Greenville downtown, a loud noise triggered a small panic and caused social media rumors of a shooting in front of Carolina Ale House on Main St.

Amidst the flurry of tweets from those who claimed they were there to witness the act, the Greenville Police Department was quick to lay the rumors to rest. As it turns out, a large table fell over, make a loud noise at which time a group of teenagers fled the scene claiming shots were fired.

It’s important that we all take instances like this seriously and that we prepare ourselves in the case of an active shooter, but we also need to make sure we’re all following reputable sources to ensure we have the most accurate information. You can follow the City Police Department here and the City of Greenville here.
