Future improvements to 5 parks this year in Greenville, SC

Earlier this month, the City of Greenville’s Neighborhood Infrastructure Bond totaling about $36 million — was approved. The bond will go towards four major project categories:

  • Roads, streets, and bridges (learn more about the annual street resurfacing)
  • Traffic management
  • Sidewalks
  • Parks and community centers

About $4,840,000 will cover a variety of improvements to parks and recreation centers across Greenville. Projects will kick off as soon as next month and through 2023. Let’s take a look at the five parks that will see some changes this year:

This spring (April-June)

Holmes Park, 111 Holmes Dr., $360,000

  • New aluminum picnic shelter
  • Updated parking lot with new landscaping
  • Tennis court rehabilitation

McPherson Park, 120 E. Park Ave., $100,000

  • Reconstruction of tennis courts
  • New tennis court fence

Newtown Park, 15 Cagle St., $25,000

  • Reconstruction of basketball court

This summer (July-September)

Cleveland Park, 150 Cleveland Park Dr., $1,300,000

  • New pickleball court
  • Reconstruction of basketball + tennis courts
  • Updated parking

Gower Park, 24 Evelyn Ave., $1,500,000

  • New dedicated pickleball court
  • Reconstruction of basketball + tennis courts
  • New parking lot + landscaping
