Given the new normal of virtual learning and remote work, families are no longer location-bound by brick-and-mortar classrooms and offices. The upside to this situation is that parents and children can achieve career and scholastic success from anywhere – including Kiawah Island, a ~3.5-hour drive from GVL.

To enhance your children’s distance learning through fun, hands-on experiences, Kiawah Island Golf Resort has developed a variety of “field trips” designed to improve brains, bodies and moods – while maintaining safe social distancing – including:

Junior Ecologist: Dolphins and Friends

Children will join a naturalist on a Dolphin Encountereither by kayak or motorboat – and get an immersive education on these fascinating full-time residents of the Kiawah River. They will also study the Island’s intricate system of creeks and marshes and all of the creatures who call them home. Salt marshes are one of the most productive ecosystems on earth and a vital part of the Lowcountry.

Junior Zoologist: Kiawah Creatures

Guests of all ages will learn more about the Lowcountry’s native wildlife from Kiawah Island Golf Resort’s super knowledgeable professional naturalists. From a safe distance, families can observe + learn about the amazing (and often misunderstood) American alligator – one of the Island’s apex predators – in its natural habitat. Guests can also explore remote habitats to seek out dozens of bird species, both large and small, and learn about the natural history of Kiawah’s avian wildlife.
