A Georgia-based developer is planning $9 million in upgrades for Arcadia Mill No. 1 at 1875 Hayne St. in Spartanburg. The 114-yr-old textile mill was designed by Joseph Sirrine, a well-known S.C. architect.
The renovation will include 70 high-end loft apartments + an arts complex called the Creativity Mill, which will be a partnership with the Chapman Cultural Center. Creativity Mill will house a co-working space for local artists, along with a “maker space” for ceramics, metal + glass. It will also feature a climbing wall, dance studio, and practice studios.
The developer has successfully renovated other notable buildings in the Upstate, including the West Village Lofts at Brandon Mill in Greenville.
