A March Madness Party is basically a national holiday for sporty friends who love college basketball. People host parties full of food, drinking, gambling and roaring at the television in honor of their favorite teams and players.

Throwing a March Madness Party means following a fun, festive theme, without focusing too much on party activities. Why? Because the main activity is the basketball game itself!

1.Know all the times and dates.

This may seem like a simple one, but we’ve kept it at number one because not knowing can ruin your entire party. No one wants to come to a party to watch a replay or arrive too early or late to enjoy it.

2. Decorate with the right colors.

If your college team’s not a part of March Madness, decorate your home with white, black and orange. This creates a basketball feel.

3. Make your home comfy for your guests.

This is not a stuffy dinner party. A March Madness party will have people yelling at the TV and each other. If you have limited seating throw some floor pillows on the ground.

4. Put on game music.

To fill the voids before and after and during commercial breaks, put on songs that will pump up your guests. Think of fast-paced party music.

5. Wings are key.

Chicken wings are traditional party food at basketball game parties. And who are we to mess with tradition? People will come to your home expecting little wingettes. Do not disappoint.

6. Serve themed food.

Sports-themed food is cool too look at and delicious to consume. Make a few food items basketball-themed such as basketball cake pops or basketball sliders.

7. Snacks are for stress.

At a March Madness Party, snacks are used to munch on to help deal with stress. Make sure you stock up because you have no idea how fast your guests will go through chicken wings and chips and dip.

8. Get lots of drinks.

Make sure you have plenty of alcoholic beverages, juices, water and ice for your guests. Try to keep them all in one place, either in an ice bath in your sink or in a cooler for easy access.

9. Let your guests play too.

Set up a small basketball hoop in your house where your guests can play when they get restless. You could even stick a hula hoop to a wall and call it a day. Your guests are going to utilize it regardless.

10. Create a betting pool.

Let your guests bet on the game. If this is too difficult for you to oversee, get a trusty friend to do it or use an app. Guests who want to participate can get the thrill of gambling and others can simply enjoy the party.

11.Represent the Madness.

Wear matching attire. Make sure you’re fashion forward by your college basketball team’s colors or wearing colors to match your March Madness Party theme.
