The high-speed rail between Charlotte and Atlanta just got new funding from The White House

The $500,000 in funding from the Corridor Identification and Development Program will further study routes between Charlotte and Atlanta, which includes stops in Greenville.

It’s been a while since we shared an update on the proposed high-speed train between Atlanta and Charlotte. New funding from The White House will fund the ongoing consideration of the project.

What’s new?

Across the country, 69 railroad projects in 44 states — including this one — will receive a piece of $34.5 million from the Corridor Identification and Development Program. The program creates a new foundation for planning future investments for high-speed railways and will provide the project $500,000.

A refresher on the project

We first told you about three possible routes in 2019. They narrowed it down to one preferred route — the Greenfield Corridor — in 2021.
