It’s official: Greenville County Schools are back in session. You made it, parents. 👏 We know you’re probably giving a mental standing ovation to teachers, administrators + school support staff right now, but let’s also put our hands together for the local businesses + organizations that give back to Greenville schools.
One of these local businesses is Greenville Federal Credit Union, which was started by nine educators in 1968. DYK their original name was Greenville Educators Federal Credit Union? Their name changed in 1983, but supporting students + educators has always been at the heart of their mission.
Here are a few ways Greenville Federal Credit Union (continuously) gives back to GVL schools:
- Building The Branch at Greenville High (a branch of the credit union that is completely run by students), offering course credit, hands-on experience + real-world financial literacy.
- Hosting events like the 2019 Teacher of the Year reception, honoring teachers who go above + beyond.
- Sponsoring awards like Employees of the Year + Emerging Teachers of the Year, recognizing + rewarding employee excellence.
- Actively participating in community events at local schools. (See above photo of credit union employee Dawn ZaBelle reading to Fountain Inn Elementary students, and check out Clark the Owl tearing up Field Day at Westcliffe Elementary.)
Greenville Federal Credit Union celebrated its 50th anniversary last year. Click below to see how nine teachers created the credit union – and how much it has grown since. 👇 Ⓟ
