Greenville Co. ranked top 4 healthiest counties in S.C.

Two weeks ago, we told you that South Carolina spends $1.2 billion caring for patients with obesity-related conditions and that South Carolina has the 13th highest obesity rate in the country. So, what does this mean for Greenville?

Well, it turns out Greenville County is healthier than most, ranking #4 in the state, putting us one spot ahead of Charleston, and 10 spots ahead of Spartanburg. The study takes a look at multiple factors, including smoking, obesity and physical activity but also graduation rates, violent crime, quality of physicians, poverty, and pollution. According to the report, Beaufort, Dorchester, and York are among the top 3 healthiest counties in South Carolina.
