Ever wondered what S.O.A.R. means?

There’s no shortage of spots in Greenville for kids, teens + adults to hang out. But we can’t forget our seniors (shout out to Grams) who still want to kick back with some cornhole + a group of friends. We’ve found a few places for the older generation to get their game on. 🏓

Simpsonville’s Activity & Senior Center offers a full range of activities for participants. Pro tip: make sure you have enough white space in your agenda. There’s poker, bridge, bingo, scrabble + even a pool league – the February calendar is packed. Give Michelle Gonzalez, senior coordinator, a call at 864-967-9533 before that event you’re eyeing fills up.

Next up: S.O.A.R (Seniors Out & Around). S.O.A.R is a social group for ages 50+ in Greer. S.O.A.R offers activities such as line dancing, bingo, and potlucks.🍴 Members meet at Victor Park in Greer – contact Meredith Anzur at manzur@cityofgreer.org if you’re ready to show off some moves (or your world-famous pie).

Ray Hopkins Senior City offers free membership (some activities will cost) to folks 55+. Located in Mauldin, seniors can play pinochle, dominoes, phase 10, cornhole + “dirty bingo.” Not sure how comfortable I am with my grandma playing dirty bingo, but we don’t judge. Find the calendar here + call 864-234- 3488 for more info.

And don’t forget the 2018 South Carolina Senior Sports Classic (think the Olympics for seniors). Archery, basketball, golf, foot races and *much* more will take place. No doping allowed. 😉 Register here if you think you have what it takes.
