School might be out for the summer, but there’s a lot going on at Greer High School. In case you missed it, construction is officially underway on The Branch at Greer High.

Greenville Federal Credit Union announced its second student-run high school branch earlier this year. This new branch will join The Branch at Greenville High — which is entering its eighth school year in operation — in bringing real-world financial literacy and education to Greenville-area students.

Greer High School students, faculty, and staff will have daily access to the financial services provided by the student-run branch, set to open the first week of school, while student employees will gain hands-on experience and preparation for their future careers, plus course credit.

While the branch is being built, the students who will run it are getting ready. These selected students receive 100+ hours of training through a paid summer internship, which includes classroom and on-the-job training at Greenville Federal Credit Union’s four main locations. By the end of the summer, students will be able to handle cash transactions, open new accounts, and implement growth strategies through marketing plans of their own.
