We feel the need, the need for speed. After seven years of scouting out the area, Wenker, Inc. — a German automotive supplier — chose Greenville County as the home for its new headquarters. The company will invest $3.1 million in Greer and will add 27 jobs to the market. Greer Mayor Rick Danner says that he hopes Wenker will “always feels welcome in the city.”

After establishing operations in Spartanburg in 2016, Wenker, Inc. has decided to move operations and launch a new manufacturing site in Greer on East Phillips Road, not too far from the Greer Heritage Museum. Wenker, Inc. is a metal and construction company with products ranging from ovens to robots — yes, we said robots. Wenker’s partners include BMW, Volvo, and Toyota.

The 131,400-sqft plant — roughly three-quarters of the size of Biltmore Estate — is slated for completion by mid-2024.

Greenville County Council Chairman and Greenville Area Development Corporation Board Member Dan Tripp said this company is an “ideal addition” to the area. According to Wenker’s Owner Stefan Leers, “The US-Wenker story is becoming an exciting one.” Leers says the community has, “felt like home from day one.”
