Life in Greenville is busy (we understand, believe us) – and that means you might’ve skimmed over some major news this month. Here’s a quick catch-up session, just in time to impress everyone at brunch tomorrow with your local knowledge.
🍷 A new boutique winery called Eagle Mountain Winery was announced. It’ll be 54 acres in north Greenville County near Landrum on Highway 11, with 40-mile views of the Blue Ridge Mountains + close proximity to three state parks.
🍓 Gather GVL announced four new tenants: Cocobowlz (acai + pitaya bowls), Sweet Sippin’ (a wine shop + tasting room based in Simpsonville), Prost! (German beer + comfort food), and Mike’s Philly Cheesesteak and Roast Pork (authentic Philly staples) are all coming to the West End food hall.
🚒 Chicora Alley is opening its third location the old police department + firehouse building in Travelers Rest. Cheers to more nachos + cream cheese chicken enchiladas.
🍺 Markley Station (located in the West End) has announced some new tenants: Charlotte-based tap room Hoppin’, a new winery called Urban Wren + Clemson’s Todaro Pizza.
✈ The Junction @ Downtown Airport is coming to 301 Airport Rd., with restaurant space, options for a brewery/distillery/winery, gym space, and a coffee shop or bakery. Construction is planned to start on Monday.
🦐 The Lost Cajun Restaurant (with a location on Pelham Road) will take over the former location of Wu’s Cajun Seafood on Main St (the same spot that was once home to the Green Room) and plans to open within the next two months.
⚽ Greenville’s USL Division III soccer team announced its name, logo, colors, and head coach. The Greenville Triumph will be coached by National Soccer Hall of Famer John Harkes, and fans will be decked out in navy + green merch.
🐟 Rick Erwin Dining Group signed a lease for a new restaurant in the former Palmetto Moon space in Haywood Mall. The name is not yet known, but the concept is planned to be upscale casual seafood with a seasonal menu + an outdoor patio.
🍕 Coastal Crust will open a long-anticipated physical location on Pendleton St. later this year. It won’t be in the little house where a Coastal Crust sign has been up for a while (for now, that’ll be used as HQ for their catering) – they’ll occupy a storefront at 1254 Pendleton St., next to Pace Jewelers.
👋 A *ton* of new business just opened up in the Village of West Greenville. We’ve got a look at the Village Grind’s new location, Greenville’s most Instagrammable plant shop, and donut ice cream sandwiches from Carol’s Ice Cream.
☕ Mountain Goat Cafe + bike shop opened in a former auto body shop on Shaw St. (off Poinsett Hwy.). They’re serving up Methodical Coffee, craft beer and wine, and pastries from Upcountry Provisions – all while creating job opportunities and providing tutoring + mentoring for at-risk students.
🌮 A new restaurant opened on Augusta St. called Tacozinni, blending tacos + pizza for the perfect comfort-food menu seven days a week. The vibe is casual and friendly, with a full bar, vegetarian and gluten-free crust options, and spots for golf carts.
🛍 Copper Penny is opening back up, but this time in the West End at 18 Augusta Rd. (the former location of Amanda Henry’s Popcorn Parlor). The new location will be owned by Charleston-based corporate rather than a franchisee + will share the vibe of Copper Penny’s King Street location.
🥃 The upcoming Residence Inn SpringHill Suites hotel (in progress at the corner of E Washington + Spring Streets) will feature a restaurant called Oak & Honey. It’s planned to open late this year or early next year, with small plates, craft cocktails and a nature-inspired theme.
🍺 Liability Brewing Co. was the latest Westone tenant to officially open its doors, right next to Moe’s Original Bar B Que in the shopping center on Stone Ave.
🎉 A new event space called Westfield is coming to downtown GVL. It’ll be in a renovated warehouse along the GHS Swamp Rabbit Trail (between District West apartments + Trailside at Reedy Point apartments) on Westfield St. There’s a rumor that the building will feature a mural along the trail.
