$100K + 14 local nonprofits

The Spartanburg County Foundation announced this week it awarded $109,837 in grants to support the missions of 14 local nonprofit organizations. Here are some of the nonprofits that received funding to support their missions:

  • Angels Charge Ministry ($4,250) supports women after being released from incarceration by providing transitional housing, case management + advocacy
  • Ballet Spartanburg ($8,540) offers dance and after-school classes, partners with the Boys and Girls Club of the Upstate + the city for at-risk youth programs, and performs at nursing homes + hospitals
  • Carolina Miracle League ($2,047) organizes annual baseball games for children with mental and/or physical challenges
  • Faces and Voices of Recovery ($4,000) provides non-clinical support for people dealing with substance abuse disorders
  • HALTER ($12,000) offers horse-assisted activities + therapy for those with special needs
  • Healthy Smiles of Spartanburg ($15,000) provides dental health screenings for those in need + offers free services for some children
  • New Day of Spartanburg ($7,500) assists adults dealing with mental health issues live independently + recently opened a new facility after its previous building was destroyed in a 2015 fire
