It’s fun to stay at the YMCA, especially when they unveil a new $2.4 million sports complex. The project broke ground in February of this year, and a ribbon cutting ceremony was held at the Eastside YMCA, located at 1250 Taylors Rd., in Taylors, on Monday, Sept. 18.

The new complex features:

  • An outdoor fitness patio
  • An airnasium (read: an outdoor sports facility)
  • A miniature soccer pitch + futsal court (read: a scaled down version of soccer)

The 30-year-old facility serves approximately 4,500 kids in its youth sports programs and has doubled the amount of members it was expected to have upon construction— but with these new upgrades, there’s no need to feel down.

Adults, pick yourselves off the ground. You too can break a sweat with volleyball, basketball, futsal + pickleball underneath the airnasium’s roof.

According to Scot Badley, president and CEO of the YMCA of Greenville, they’re just getting started with the expansion. He says this upgrade is “the start of a multi-phase effort” to provide “whole new level of service.”

We’re sure you’ll find many ways to find a good time.
