Wednesday, Jan. 28 update

✏️ Greenville County Schools is closed again on Wednesday, Jan. 28 with students doing eLearning — see how they made the call.

🚜 City of Greenville’s public works crews removed 17 truckloads of snow and ice from downtown overnight Tuesday, clearing main roads and shifting focus to side streets, pileups along the road, medians, and slick spots.

Tuesday, Jan. 27 update

Have you eaten all of your storm snacks? The good news: Crews continue working to clear the roads as the ice melts, so a trip to the store is in your future.

Here are the latest updates after the winter storm:

🧊 According to the National Weather Service, in Greenville County:

  • 0.25-1 inches of freezing rain accumulated — the most in the US
  • 0.3-2 inches of snow fell
  • 0.8-1.5 inches of sleet fell

✏️ Greenville County Schools will have an e-learning day on Tuesday, Jan. 27 and will make a decision on Wednesday, Jan. 28 on Tuesday afternoon.

🚜 The City of Greenville is asking drivers, pedestrians, and — unfortunately — sledders to stay off the streets due to heavy equipment and first responders on the roads.

✈️ Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport is back online and operational as of Monday, Jan. 26.

Good morning, Greenville. We hope you’re staying warm and safe as the ice storm ends. While we wait for it to melt, here are some important updates:

✏️ Greenville County Schools will have an e-learning day on Monday, Jan. 26 and Tuesday, Jan. 27.

✈️ All arrivals and departures at Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport were canceled on Sunday, Jan. 25 — check with your airline if you’re traveling today.

♻️ Some trash and recycling (like Greenville, Greer, and Mauldin) are postponing pickup on Monday, Jan. 26 — check with your utility.

🧂 The City of Greenville’s public works crews used 4,050+ pounds of ice melt and spread 30+ truckloads of salt.

📚 All Greenville County Library System branches are closed on Monday, Jan. 26.
