We’ve previously told y’all about the Kroc Center and all it has to offer, but let’s dive a little deeper into one of its unique amenities: the Kroc Tennis Center.

We had the chance to explore the tennis center and even get a private lessonhere’s how it went and how you can try this.

What we tried (with pricing):

The Tennis Center (205 Gibbs St) is just across the Swamp Rabbit Trail from the Kroc Center main facility, and it isn’t hard to spot. Even though our lesson was in the evening, the tennis courts are surrounded by bright lighting so you’re able to see + play just fine — and get good photos, too.

City Editor Grace here, and I recently took a Kroc 101 class, designed to teach beginners (aka me) the basic strokes and movements. The class is normally four weeks long and starts on the first Wednesday of each month. Each session is $60 for members and $72 for non-members. Memberships range from $20-155 per month depending on age.

I also got to observe one of the junior clinics, and they even sent me home with a meal from the Kroc Kitchen to fuel my body after all that tennis practice. 💪

What not to miss:

The tennis center shop, featuring all of the equipment you could need including racquets, balls, and apparel. The shop also strings racquets, if that’s a service you’re in need of.

What we’re still talking about:

Being a non-seasoned tennis player (and that’s putting it nicely), I was worried about “embarrassing” myself or “not being good enough.” Those thoughts and feelings quickly went away with the enthusiastic support and encouragement from the tennis teacher, Brad. It was so much fun, I learned a lot, and I definitely plan on coming back to show off my newly-learned tennis skills.

How you can experience this:

Head over to their website to see what clinics + lessons they offer. They also have different membership options that include access to the Tennis Center + the Kroc main center.

Things to know if you go:

Whether you’re a tennis pro wanting to stay on top of your game or a beginner just getting started, you’ll be well taken care of at the Kroc Tennis Center.
