The South Carolina Democratic primary is Saturday, Feb. 29. That’s tomorrow.

South Carolina doesn’t have registration by party, so our primaries are open – which means all registered S.C. voters can participate in either party’s primary regardless of political affiliation – you just can’t vote in both. The South Carolina Republican Party’s executive committee decided not to hold a Republican presidential primary this year.

Fourteen candidates will be on the ballot, though many have already withdrawn from the race.

As of earlier this week, 31,000+ absentee ballots had already been returned (out of 40,000). To vote, you had to have been registered at least 30 days prior to an election. So if you’re not registered already, unfortunately, it’s too late to register for this presidential primary.

Heads up – apparently, the mailing of some Greenville County absentee ballots was delayed. All absentee ballots have to be turned in to the elections office by 7 p.m. on Saturday. You can find more information here if you are affected by the delay.

Here are a few quick resources to get you started:

First things first… check if you’re registered here.

Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Enter your first + last name, DOB, and county here to find your district. Another heads up – there are currently 45 temporary polling relocations. Click here to see if your polling location is on the list of temporary relocations.

Here is what you need to bring to the polls in order to vote.

A new voting systemincluding both a digital platform + paper ballot – was implemented in Oct. 2019. Here is how it works.

You can follow along with real-time election results on WYFF 4’s election page.
