Snow day, snow yay?

Here’s what you’ll want (and need) to know for when winter weather arrives:

🚗 Interstates, like I-85, I-385 + I-26, are cleared first, followed by primary roads (any road that contain US or SC in their names). Secondary roads, are of course, secondary and won’t be cleared as quickly. It’s safe to say, if the SCDOT says the interstates aren’t clear, then your street is probably much worse.

Greenville County Schools will be closed Monday, Dec. 10 + Tuesday, Dec. 11, as the district found 18 schools without power on Sunday. City offices will open at noon Monday, and Greenlink service has been canceled. Call Duke Energy at 1-800-777-9898 to report power line hazards + call the City’s Public Works Department at 864-467-4335 if a tree or limb is in the street.

You can also access the SCDOT cameras to visually monitor the interstates here.

🚔 You can follow our local state troopers on Twitter. They’ll keep you up-to-date + are actually pretty entertaining: Trooper Joe + Trooper Bill

If you *have to* go out, you can keep track of any accidents on the SC Highway Patrol site. These are crashes that troopers are responding to, but troopers typically respond to only interstate/primary road collisions. You can also monitor local road closures + detours here.

❄️ If you know anyone who needs to move to a shelter, check this site for shelters that are open.

🚨 Lost power? Report your outages here (or track Duke Energy outages in our area here).

✈️ Numerous flights from GSP + Asheville have been canceled or delayed. Check here for your flight’s status.

Here’s a list of businesses + schools that are closed.
