We’re back to talk about another project category under the City of Greenville’s Neighborhood Infrastructure Bond. As a reminder, the ~$36 million bond was approved earlier this month for four project categories including roads, streets, and bridges + parks and community centers. Today’s project topic: sidewalks.

Of the ~$36 million bond, about $8.7 million (which includes $2 million from the FY23/FY24 Neighborhood Sidewalk Targeted Expansion Program) will cover the enhancement and addition of 12 sidewalks along various streets in town.

Construction on the new sidewalks begins this summer and continues through summer of next year along streets like Keith Drive, Lowndes Hill Road, and Chick Spring Road. Though sidewalk closures may impact pedestrian routes, traffic patterns should not be affected. We’ll be sure to share any major closures.

Here are three sidewalk projects kicking off this summer (July-September):

Long Hill Street, from Rice Street to the end (near Augusta Street) | $448,800 | The addition of a sidewalk will make pedestrian access to streets like Cammer Avenue and High Hill Street easier and safer.

Potomac Avenue, from Panama Avenue to Prince Avenue (near Augusta Street) | $785,400 | Residents in this particular section who want to take a walk on Potomac Avenue will be able to do so without having to walk in the street.
