Just for the record...🎙

greenville sc record stores

Prepare to get lost for a few hours in Greenville’s local record stores (like BJ Music on Augusta St). Photo: @gvltoday

Saturday is Record Store Day, which is more than just a fun holiday to post a few pictures on the ‘gram (looking at you, National Cupcake Day). Hundreds of artists release rare + exclusive records, and at the very least you have a reason to get your High Fidelity on. 🤘

GVL has plenty of independent record stores that’ll help you stock that sweet vinyl collection (and are small businesses worth supporting):

Cabin Floor Records | 504 Rutherford St | 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. | They specialize in rare and vintage vinyl, tapes + CDs, and have options to buy, sell + trade

Horizon Records | 2 W Stone Ave | 10 a.m. – 10 p.m. | Will buy your used records, have a super-knowledgeable staff, and also stock used CDs, tapes, and concert DVDs | For Record Store Day, Horizon is opening at 8 a.m. and offering 300+ special releases

Pharmacy Records | 21 Shoppers Drive | 11 a.m. – 8 p.m. | Buy used CDs + vinyl, and have a solid collection of rock and metal

BJ Music LLC | 1430 Augusta St | 10 a.m. – 5 p.m., closed Sundays | A cozy store with all the classics – and if they don’t have that record you’re looking for, they’ll track it down for a good price

Rainbow Records | 2705 N Main St Suite B, Anderson | 10 a.m. – 8 p.m. | A shop open since 1981, with friendly staff who are down to chat music all day | For Record Store Day, Rainbow Records will open at 8 a.m. and offer 200+ new indie vinyl releases, vinyl box sets, and cassettes

If you’re a hardcore audiophile + down to travel for the occasion:

Harvest Records in Asheville is hosting a Record Store Day party from 10 a.m. – 8 p.m., with hundreds of limited releases, goodie bags + free prizes, free beer from New Belgium, and a basement sale from 10 – 5 (CDs/LPs/45s/78s for 25 cents), and a DJ set at 4 p.m.

Papa Jazz Record Shoppe in Columbia will be open from 8 a.m. – 7 p.m., with limited Record Store Day releases, free swag + posters for folks waiting in line (until they run out), and an after-party at The War Mouth
