Achoo. Sorry, GVL — Kayla here, and my allergies have been pretty bad lately. My sneezes have subsided, however, thanks to a recent experience with Prisma Health Virtual Care. Here’s how it works and how you can #TryThis.

Experience:

An eVisit + On Demand Video Visit with Prisma Health Virtual Care

What we tried (with pricing):

First, I tried an On Demand Video Visit (cost varies based on insurance coverage), which connects patients via live video to a Prisma Health provider who can provide a personalized diagnosis and treatment plan.

I met with Dr. Allan Gilmer, who couldn’t have been nicer. After some basic questions (my name, birthday, and confirmation that I live in SC), we dug into my allergy history and the OTC medications I’ve tried. Dr. Gilmer encouraged me to continue daily use of Flonase and recommended a prescription for Singulair, which could then be sent right over to my pharmacy.

eVisits:

Another option for virtual care is an eVisit ($20), in which patients fill out an online health interview that gets sent directly to a Prisma Health provider. Bonus: Prisma Health is currently offering free eVisits for coronavirus symptoms with promo code COVID_19.

Just like the On Demand Video Visit, the provider then provides a personalized diagnosis + treatment plan and can order prescription medications when appropriate. E-visits are available for ages 18+ from 8 a.m.-8 p.m., whereas On Demand Video Visits are available 24/7 for all ages.

FYI: For both types of virtual visits, you will need a MyChart account (free to create).

What not to miss:

After your eVisit or On Demand Video Visit, you can check out your after-visit summary in MyChart. This shows a recap of the visit as well as the recommended treatment plan. Read: You don’t need to take notes during your visit.

What we’re still talking about:

I appreciated how Dr. Gilmer took the time to ask questions, thoroughly explain his diagnosis and recommendations, and thoughtfully answer any questions I had. I felt taken care of and not rushed in any way.
