#DYK - Michelin is one of Anderson County’s top employers (thanks to manufacturing plants in Sandy Springs and Starr)?

Recently, Anderson’s mayor + two city officials and two Greenville City Council members traveled to France for a Michelin communities conference to exchange best practices and experiences concerning issues like renewable energy, cultural activities, transportation + new technology.

George Fletcher, a Greenville City Council member, spoke about Greenville’s initiative to use driverless electric vehicles to enhance mass transit routes. Fletcher said he hopes that Greenville could host a future Internal Network of Michelin Cities conference.

President and CEO of the United Way of Anderson County, Carol Burdette, and Brandy Singleton, chairman of the Anderson Area Sister Cities Association, both attended the conference (on their own bill).

Anderson Mayor Roberts said the “common thread” between attendees of the conference is that these cities all face the challenge of doing more with less.
