Who runs the world? Girls. Since 2019, local nonprofit Girl Up GVL aims to help young girls “develop a sense of self while discovering their unique gifts and talents.” In honor of Women’s History Month, let’s learn a little more about the organization.

What they do

Girl Up GVL helps young women have “positive, formative experiences” that help shape their futures. It’s program aims to help girls reach their highest potential.

How they do it

By offering middle school, high school, and in-school programs, staff + volunteers are able to implement structured routines, regular assistance, and positive experiences for young women.

Some of the programs include:

  • Summer camps
  • Individual success planning
  • Weekly enrichment classes
  • After school activities
  • Summer internship opportunities

How you can help

Girl Up GVL accepts donations + you can sign up to be a volunteer. The organization is currently seeking tutors, career hosts, and mentors.

Channel your inner Rosie the Riveter because, “You can do it.”
