How shocked were you the first time you saw Apple’s screen time notification pop up on your iPhone? I spend 5-6 hours on my phone every day and I don’t want to call it an addiction, but I don’t know how else to classify the feeling of anxiety I get when I am not holding my phone in my hand.

Research shows that most Americans are using smartphones, computers, tablets, and other devices for nearly 11 hours each day. Even when we tell ourselves we are going to disconnect to hang out at the beach or go for a hike, how often do we really follow through?

Meals on Wheels of Greenville is launching a campaign called Disconnect to Connect to encourage people to pledge to disconnect from their phones + social media accounts for a full 24 hours on March 30 to give an idea of the loneliness felt by their homebound clients on a daily basis.

Putting away devices, even for a short time, can actually improve the quality of your relationships (less FOMO), enhance creativity, and help you sleep better.

Don’t think you can commit to 24 hours without your phone? Pledge to donate $1 for every hour you can’t stay disconnected. Click here to get more info + fill out the pledge form. 📲

P.S. You can check your screen time, limit app usage + schedule downtime daily under “Settings” on your iPhone.
