Lindsay Graham visits Lockheed Martin’s event on Monday

Sen. Lindsey Graham, and An Ho-young, the South Korean ambassador to the United States visited Lockheed Martin’s production facility during the T-50A showcase event. This comes after a request for proposal from the Air Force which includes a ground-based training system as well as the actual jet (T-50A production) in December

Lockheed Martin and Korea Aerospace Industries are teaming up as one of four aircraft companies vying for the U.S. Air Force’s Advanced Pilot Training program contract worth between $11 billion and $16 billion.

Winning the contract would mean as many as 250 new jobs, but, the replacement of the T-38 (current trainer plane) hinges on an approval of an aggressive spending plan from President Trump and his administration (an increase in defense spending to the tune of nearly $54 billion). A decision which Graham says will have to be fought in Congress, but feels confident can be won.
