Escape from Prohibition
📍: Swamp Rabbit Brewery (26 S Main St, Travelers Rest)
⭐: Looks like a jumping swamp rabbit breaking through the gray brick but it’s all a visual trick called trompe-l’œil (French for “deceive the eye”).
🎨: Brigitte Selby (it was her first mural)

whistle stop

Locomotive at the Whistlestop
📍: Whistlestop at the American Cafe (109 S Main St Travelers Rest)
⭐:This 3D mural uses the wood fired oven to illustrate the pilot of the locomotive with the chimney of the oven as the smokestack, and there’s a headlamp to make it look even more realistic.

Falls Street Artwork
📍: 307 Falls St. near Webster Street (visible from Falls Street)
⭐: Warped images of four mills that have been repurposed or are slated for renovation flowing through the Reedy River falls. The four mills are: The Lofts at the Mills Mill, the Lofts of Greenville in The former Monahagen Mill, the Woodside Mill, and Wyche Pavilion.
Commissioned by the Year of Altruism as a memorial to the 75th anniversary of Kristallnacht.
🎨: Gaia (aka Andrew Pisacane) – one of Forbe’s “30 Under 30 Art & Style” for 2015.

📍: Rite Aid at the corner of Main and Stone (1 E Stone Ave)
⭐: A Greenville take on George Seurat’s “Sunday Afternoon on the Island of la Grande Jatte.”
🎨: Eric Benjamin, an art teacher at Stone Academy of Communications Arts and Stone Academy students

Be the Change You Want to See in the Neighborhood!

⭐:
Depicts an aquarium with vegetation, fish and a boy peering at it painted using interferon paint that changes colors as people walk by.
🎨: Stone Academy Students under the direction of artist Calista Bockenstette

Southern Sounds
📍: Horizon Records parking lot (2 W Stone Ave)
⭐: Highlights local musicians who’ve impacted the Greenville community in unique ways. Like Josh White, the first black man to sell a million records with his song “One Meatball.” And, Russ Morin, a beloved musician, teacher, and ukelele craftsman (also called a luthier). Morin passed away from lung cancer in 2014.
🎨: Furman Art students under the direction of Ross McClain and artist Charles Tyre.
