Ever think about taking a class to prepare yourself for a new career, gain skills for the job you already have, or just for fun?

Greenville Technical College offers personal + professional enrichment courses in everything from real estate and property management to photography and floral design. Most courses are open to students aged 16+ (under 18 requires pre-approval). Their Personal and Professional Enrichment department is headquartered at the school’s Northwest Campus.

Here’s a look at just a few of the courses they offer:

For makers:

  • 💐 Floral Design Training: Evening classes range from teaching the basics to how to DIY your own wedding + special occasions. The next class, “Create Seasonal Wreaths & Holiday Floral Arrangements,” runs Nov. 19-Dec. 10. Getting married soon + want to DIY more than just your flowers? Check out “Become a Wedding Planner,” offered in the spring.
  • 📖 Creative Writing: Author + illustrator Tim Davis teaches “You Can Write and Design Fiction,” a course aimed at writing + illustrating one’s own work and preparing for publication.
  • 📷 Photography: Several classes in fundamentals + commercial photography are currently available with more in the works for spring, taught by nationally-recognized + award winning instructor Lara Rossignol.

For drivers + flyers:

  • 🏍️ Motorcycle Training: The Can-Am Rider Education Program provides participants with their three-wheel motorcycle endorsement after learning basic vehicle control, turning and shifting, evasive maneuvering + more. The two-day weekend classes are offered in November + the spring.
  • 🚙 Defensive Driving: This 8-hour National Safety Council course can be used for up to a four point reduction in a driver’s Motor Vehicle Record. Classes are available on Saturdays and Wednesday + Thursday evenings.
  • 🛰️ Drone Academy: Greenville Tech offers courses in drone-flyinguseful in a number of careers – in partnership with Carolina Drone Academy. For example, real estate agents could benefit from taking “Advanced Drone Film & Photography.” The school also offers an FAA107 Exam Prep Course for Drones Pilot License.

For web surfers:

  • 💻 Computer skills: Brush up or get certified with online training courses in areas like Excel, grant writing, non-profit management, accounting + QuickBooks. These work-at-your-own-pace courses are ideal for fitting into a busy schedule.
