ICYMI, Greenville Technical College recently announced their new accelerated degree program that will allow students to receive an associate degree in just one year as opposed to the standard two.

This program is the first of its kind in S.C., giving recent high school graduates + adult learners the opportunity to get their associate degree in arts or science in only three semesters. Many of these students may choose to transfer to a four-year college or university, + they’ll have the opportunity to do so a full year earlier than their peers.

Greenville Technical College will host an open house for prospective students on Monday, June 24 at the school’s University Transfer Building (506 South Pleasantburg Dr.). So before that, we’re taking a minute to explore the perks this new program offers.

  • Perk 1: Time is money. But really. When it comes to college, graduating early means owing less in the long-run. And with this program, shorter, 7-week learning terms in the spring + fall, too. 2 fall terms + 2 spring terms + 1 summer term = 3 semesters. 1 degree. No wasted time.
  • Perk 2: Major cost savings. Compared to public four-year colleges, students at Greenville Tech save ~$5,000 per semester. That’s not chump change.
  • Perk 3: The cred. Greenville Tech is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges – just like Clemson + USC – so your credits can move with you when you transfer. (More on that in a second.)
  • Perk 4: Someone’s got your back. If you enroll in the accelerated associate degree program, you’ll have a dedicated academic coach + dedicated transfer advisor in your corner. #Squad.
  • Perk 5: What’s all this about transferring? 40% of students at Greenville Tech are working towards transferring to a four-year college or university, + they have the tools they need to do so. The Planning and Transfer Headquarters (PATH, appropriately) hosts transfer days on Tuesdays + Thursdays, when representatives from four-year institutions come to campus to answer students’ questions. These schools are also actively recruiting Greenville Tech students.
