It may feel like Spring has only just started, but Summer is fast-approaching – especially for parents of kids who are about to be home all June + July. 😬 To get them busy while activating their brains, we’ve put together a list of summer camps for every interest for rising 6th-8th graders at Greenville Technical College’s Adventure Tech, a newly expanded summer day camp program in its second year.

🎮 For the gamer:

Code Like a Pro – Junior Edition (new for 2019) | June 3-6 or July 15-18 | CMI campus | $129 | Greenville members of Women Who Code will teach the basics of coding, programming, and web development by building mini-games and other interactive tech-based concepts. Best suited for rising 7th + 8th graders.

Make Your First Video Game! | June 24-27 (afternoon only) or July 8-11 (morning only) | CMI campus | $129 | Work in teams to conceptualize, design, and code a 2D platformer game with graphics, sounds, and varying levels. No experience is needed and games can be shared with friends + family through a password-protected website.

🌻 For the *budding* botanist:

Design a pollinator garden | June 3-6 or July 8-11 | Greenville Tech Northwest Campus |

$129 | Learn about different types of pollinators and favorite plants (like hummingbirds + wildflowers) then create your own design for a garden to plant at home.

🍳 For the master chef:

Mastering Baking Week | June 10-13 or July 15-18 | Greenville Tech Northwest Campus | $139 | Learn how to make Southern staples like biscuits + cornbread as well as braided bread, cinnamon rolls, candies and more. Tasting the final product is always encouraged.

Basic Cooking and Baking Combo Week | June 3-6 or July 8-11 | Greenville Tech Northwest Campus | $139 | Twist up some pretzels, toss a pizza, roast a chicken, and stir up sauces – then top it off by baking some goodies to take home.

*Bonus: Culinary camp students may qualify to receive up to 80% funding through summer camp scholarships. More info here.

🐱 For the animal lover:

Junior Vet Camp! Parts I & II (NEW for 2019) | Part I date options / Part II date options | Greenville Tech Northwest Campus | $129 | Part I teaches students to recognize behaviors in dogs and cats, assess exercise needs, and perform first aid + CPR. Part II explores radiology, fluid analysis, and veterinary surgery.

🛸 For the engineer:

Drone Academy (new for 2019) | June 11-12 or July 17-18 | Greenville Tech Northwest Campus | $189 | Build a drone, learn to fly it, then show off your skills by flying it through an indoor obstacle course. This camp is two full days + includes a lunch break.

Virtual and Robotic Welding | July 15-18 | Greenville Tech Brashier Campus | $129 | Use a virtual welder to learn techniques + basics for different types of welding. This summer camp is best suited for middle schoolers.

➗ For the mathematician:

CNC (Computer Numerical Control) | June 3-6 or June 17-20 | CMI campus | $129 | Learn how math plays a major role in modern advanced manufacturing to generate precision aircraft + automotive parts. This summer camp is best suited for rising 7th and 8th graders.

🎤 For the media mogul:

Personal Radio! | June 3-6, June 17-20, July 15-18, or July 29-August 1 | Greenville Tech Northwest Campus | Program a radio station using free software to schedule songs, news updates, spoken segments, and more.
