6 summer school programs your kids will love

Summer school isn’t just about making up for a failed class anymore. If you’ve got a child prodigy on your hands or just one that needs a bit of encouraging, summer school could be the perfect means to keep their brains on fire + get them prepped for the fall.

Carolina Code School for those who want to become professional programmers. Three-hour sessions over the course of five days.

Microscope Camp at Furman (Grades 1 - 2): A full-day summer program with a science + nature focus.

Kaleidoscope Camp at Furman (Grades 3 - 5): Science + the arts, and plenty of nature walks, outdoor games, and swimming.

Telescope Camp at Furman (Grades 6 - 8): Focuses on teamwork + creativity through problem-solving and outdoor games.

Adventure Tech at Greenville Technical College (Grades 6 - 8): Teaches culinary and STEM education. Registration ends May 18.

Southern Wesleyan University (adults + kids): Week-long intensive jazz camp hosted each summer, taught by some of the best Jazz musicians in town.
