With all the visitors our team has had this summer, we got to thinking about the perfect local items to welcome visitors + new residents to our city, and here’s our list. 🎁
*But we know you guys have a ton of ideas, too – reply to this email and tell us what you’d add to a gift basket for someone new to Greenville.
A bag of coffee from Methodical Coffee + Leopard Forest Coffee Company. Because the best way to get a *taste* of the city is with a cup of morning joe.
… and an 864 mug to drink it from, courtesy of Olive + Grey. If your friend doesn’t like coffee, it would still look great on a shelf. 😍
A print by a local artist (to decorate their new digs or take home for the memories).
A glass from a local brewery like Thomas Creek, Quest, or Birds Fly South. Drink like you’re a local, as they say.
Tickets to a Greenville Drive or Swamp Rabbits game. Did you really experience Greenville in the summer if you didn’t eat a mac n’ cheese hot dog at Fluor Field?
A souvenir from The Pickwick. And make sure to get a Duke’s sandwich + an ice cream while you’re there.
Some local produce + a t-shirt from Swamp Rabbit Café & Grocery. We can’t leave without grabbing some honey, homemade jam + stecca bread (and try really hard not to eat it all before getting home).
A candle made by Magnolia Scents or Fox & Collins. They say scents make the strongest memories… what better way to remember GVL? (You can even make your own at Magnolia Scents.)
A few sweet treats from the Chocolate Shoppe, Kilwins, Strossner’s, The Chocolate Moose Bakery & Cafe, and Van’s Chocolates. Yes, we said “and.” 😏
A t-shirt and poster from Greenville-based The Landmark Project. The Paris Mountain design is a must for locals and visitors.
Some official Greenville swag from VisitGreenvilleSC. A GVL umbrella or coloring book are probably gifts people don’t receive – which makes them even better to add to this basket.
A local goods haul from our farmers markets + Hartness Fresh Fridays (which is happening *tonight* from 6 – 8 p.m. on the Grand Lawn).
Here are some other great gift ideas y’all gave us:
“Baked goodies from Swamp Rabbit Cafe!!”
“Gift card to GB&D”
“I’d add a bottle from Dark Corner Distillery! Local distilled and their tasting room right downtown on Main Street, it’s the perfect gift to welcome someone to Greenville (if they like to drink, obviously). Ps. I’d recommend either the Wild Berry Moonshine or the Whiskey Girl Peach.”
“Was thinking maybe a SIMPLY SOUTHERN T-shirt or something cute from Palmetto moon; something Clemson or SC OR a piece of sweet potato cake from Brick Street Cafe OR maybe a complimentary round of golf at one of the amazing golf courses.”
“Everyone needs the Soby’s cookbook!! Pick one up at Soby’s restaurant or order online at Shoptable301.com.”
“Sweet Sippin in Simpsonville makes some amazing gift baskets with local/regional products that they stock in-store along with their beer and wine. My company ordered HUNDREDS of baskets from them last year for client holiday gifts, and they did a phenomenal job. Coffee, tea, handmade pottery, honey, cookies, candies, jerky, bark, pretzels, nut butters…all local, and beautifully arranged/prepared. Would definitely recommend!”
“For the baseball fan, a Greenville drive hat. For the fashionable ladies, Southern Tide is a good example. For the foodie, Blue Ridge Creamery makes some nice cheeses.”
“Must have Mice on Main book in gift basket”
“Nana’s Praline”
“Definitely a little box of chocolates!! Vaughn Russell or LaRue fine chocolate.”
