Greenville, meet Amazon lockers.

Amazon Locker locations

If you’ve been to the one of these QuickTrips – at the intersection of Woodruff & Verdae, the N. Pleasantburg location right off the 385 exit, next to Wade Hampton High School, or on Woodruff, across from WalMart – you may have noticed something. They all have Amazon Lockers outside.

Greenville is now one of the 50+ cities (in the world) to offer the (free) vending-machine-like package services. And, while the concept was rolled out across the U.K. & U.S. in 2012, we didn’t start seeing any popping up locally until late last year. Here’s how it works:

📬 Pickup:

  • Each Amazon Locker has a name (N. Pleasantburg is Harlan, Wade Hampton is Agave, Woodruff is Fernweh).
  • Go to Amazon.com/addHarlan (or whatever location you want to pick up at).
  • The locker will automatically be saved as your pick-up location.
  • Then, you will receive a PIN code to your email when it’s at the location.
  • Enter the code in the machine, and the locker with your package will open. (Side note: Packages left in a locker after 3 days will be returned for a refund.)

📬 Drop off:

  • After you submit a returns request and choose your locker location. Then, you’ll receive a locker code (via email) and a label which you will tape on the package.
  • Enter the code in the Amazon Locker location (by closing of business the next day), and voilà, the door will open.

📍: QT stores on Woodruff Rd, N. Pleasantburg Dr, Highway 14 in Greer, W. Wade Hampton Blvd in Greer, Hwy 101 in Greer and on Liberty Highway in Anderson. Or just search for the nearest locker location here.

With 24-hour pick-up + drop-off times, there’s less need for the lunchtime errand run (we’re looking at you, 5 p.m. UPS closing time). But, the ease of Amazon delivery also has the risk of affecting local business. (And we’re all about #ShoppingLocal.)

We live in a time of increasing technology and less face-to-face interaction: self-checkout, same-day deliveries, and work-from-home jobs, and maybe one day, driverless cars.

We won’t complain. But, then again, you’ll also see us at our favorite local shops + stores.
