The topic: Pickett’s Charge lives on as one of the most important moments in our history. When General Robert E. Lee sent a large part of his army across long open fields under cannon fire from many places he took a huge gamble. The stories of heroism and humanity exist side by side with the bloody fighting that ensued.

Rob Rowen has been giving battlefield talks using his several miniature battlefields with painted figures for 15+ years in Tampa, Florida. Now that he has moved to the Upstate and has a Pop Up Art Gallery for August in the Village of West Greenville, he has decided to recreate the battle that has become the most visited and cherished in America’s history.

Seeing the 12 foot by 8-foot diorama helps to get a better understanding of why this location became the battleground for over 120,000 men in 1863. He will also show where the South Carolina troops were during each part of the battle.

There will be local re-enactors on hand to share their knowledge and experiences of bringing that time period to life.

The gallery is open for viewing on Thursday and Friday, 11-2 p.m. and Saturday, 11-3 p.m. through the end of August.
