There’s a new barbecue spot in town: Meet City Barbeque

City Barbeque, a counter-service barbecue chain, will open its first South Carolina location in Greenville.

There’s a new barbecue joint in town and it’s opening at 1206 Woodruff Road on Monday, Jan. 15. City Barbeque serves “American” barbecue (aka the best of every region).

We got a sneak peek of the space and an early taste of the menu.

The meats

This location has three smokers on site that are never turned off and use local hickory wood. They’re smoking 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

The result is pulled pork, beef brisket, smoked turkey, pulled chicken, sausages, chicken, and more.

Pro tip: Study the sauce chart above the drink station to pair your meats perfectly with one of the six options.

The sides

City Editor Danielle here. A wise friend once told me you must have #ThreeSidesMinimum when ordering barbecue. City Barbeque sets you up to successfully complete that mission with a stacked lineup of favorite side options.

We tried the fresh cut fries, the creamy slaw, and the corn pudding. We’ll be back to taste that three-cheese baked mac.

The desserts

What’s a trip to a barbecue spot without some banana pudding? While City Barbeque serves up the classic with fresh bananas, vanilla wafers + creamy pudding with hand-whipped cream, it tops this classic treat with a toasted ‘nilla wafer crumble that we’re still drooling over.

If banana pudding isn’t your thing, peach cobbler and triple chocolate cake are also on the menu.

What are you trying first?
