A local arborist is working to bring an aerial adventure course, a bicycle pump track, a youth adventure park + more to Greenville.

An application has been submitted to the City of Greenville for an adventure park called The Flying Rabbit. Located in Holland Park, along the new Prisma Health Swamp Rabbit Trail expansion, The Flying Rabbit aims to be the Upstate’s newest destination for outdoor recreation, adventure + education.

The arborist and developer is Jonathan Simmonsa local resident who has been involved with 30+ adventure courses across the U.S. Last month, Simmons submitted an application for special exception to the City of Greenville outlining his plans for the space. Here’s the play by play of The Flying Rabbit:

🌳 Aerial adventure course

  • A three story, tree-spanning obstacle course.
  • Three difficulty levels that accommodate varying age ranges + comfort levels.
  • The Kids Zip Ship – a space where kids ages 5-9 can “zip and climb.”
  • 50+ aerial elements.

🌳 Pump track + bike rental

  • The composite track will be all wheel friendly (accommodating bikes, skateboards, scooters + more).

🌳 Mountain bike trail

🌳 A canopy walk sky bridge

The course would be the first of its kind in the Upstate + (in case you can’t tell) it aims to help local families get outside + active.

It’s also designed to be an educational space, emphasizing environmental preservation + the Upstate’s trees. The Flying Rabbit is focused on preserving the forested area in Holland Park + plans to partner with TreesUpstate. The Flying Rabbit also hopes the park’s aerial amenities will give visitors a unique view of the tree canopy.

Let’s talk location. Holland Park is the mixed-use development that’s currently in the works off of Laurens Rd. It sits along the planned extension of the Prisma Health Swamp Rabbit Trail + is also the future home to the highly-anticipated Home Team BBQ and Double Stamp Brewery.

In other words – BBQ, beer, and outdoor adventure – all in one place. You know where we’ll be spending our weekends.

The Flying Rabbit’s application for special exception is set to be reviewed by the Board of Zoning Appeals in a public hearing on Feb. 13. We’ll keep our ears up for news on this project + will be sure to keep you updated as we know more.
