Pick your candidates
There are two types of people — those who know exactly who’s getting their vote and those who still haven’t researched who’s running. Both are okay. If you fall in the latter category, here’s a breakdown of local + state candidates on the ballot. If you fall in the former category, a refresher never hurt anyone.
Find your polling location
Before you get to your polling place + wait in line to cast a vote, make sure you’re registered.
All SC polling places will be open on Tues., Nov. 3 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, your polling location could have changed, so even if you think you know where to go, triple check. All you have to do is put in some personal information here (county, first name, last name, date of birth), and you’ll be directed to a page with your voting information, including your polling place.

The CDC has recommended steps to take before + when voting in person:
- Check your voting location and requirements in advance — they may have changed due to COVID-19. Read SC Votes’ general election COVID-19 guidelines here.
- Verify your voter registration information is correct in advance.
- Make sure you have all necessary documents to avoid delays.
- If possible, complete any registration forms prior to arriving at the polling location.
- Review or complete a sample ballot at home to speed the process of casting your ballot.
- Bring your own black ink pen.
- Bring a stylus or similar object for use with touchscreen voting machines. Check with poll workers before using.
