Whether you’re new to the area and want to become an expert, or you’re a longtime resident ready to certify your knowledge, the program is for anyone who loves Greenville.

87+. That’s how many of you became Certified Tourism Ambassadors (CTAs) after we first told you about the program in the spring.

To earn your gold-star pin, you have to:

  • Complete a required reading assignment
  • Attend a half-day classroom session
  • Pass an open-book certification exam (don’t stress, it’s open book)

It costs $25 for your class and $20 to renew your membership.

The perks

My favorite part of being a CTA is the doors it has opened to unique opportunities to see Greenville through a different lens:

  • My tour of the Duke’s Mayo factory was an event exclusive to CTAs.
  • My look behind-the-scenes of Boo in the Zoo was a CTA experience.
  • Other events include a preview of Holiday at Peace, a chat with Mayor Knox White, and a tour (and tasting) at Six & Twenty.
  • CTAs can also volunteer with VisitGreenvilleSC to support events.

Classes are now open for 2026, and the January session is already full. Sign up.
