You can work from home (but it’s better here)

Working from home seems pretty ideal (at first) until your dog is sleeping on your laptop or your kid is throwing a toy at your head, or you just miss real human conversation. Coworking now constitutes 27 million square feet of office space. Emergent Research predicts it will double in the next two years — a 23.8 percent compounded annual growth rate.

Coworking culture is a lot like beer culture. They do not look at each other as competitors but as supporters who want to help people who are interested in working outside of the traditional “box.”

We are lucky enough to have quite a few coworking spaces (listed at the bottom of this article) in our little city – and even more lucky that there will soon be *two* new kids on the coworking block:

1️⃣ Brickyard is going into NEXT Manufacturing, near the new City Park + is focusing on small team spaces. event spaces, and hugely supporting entrepreneurs.

2️⃣ Serendipity Labs Coworking is going to occupy 24,000 sq ft in the former Piedmont Plush Mill on Highway 123 across from Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital. The redevelopment will keep the open space, high ceilings, exposed brick walls, and will include meeting rooms, wellness rooms, a work lounge, Lab Café, and more.
