We’re seeing a ton of growth lately in + around our beautiful city. While the advancement of so many new projects can seem overwhelming, we love seeing developments that are bringing original ideas to historic spaces. And that’s exactly what’s happening right now at Conestee Mill near Mauldin, a few miles south of downtown Greenville.
In 2017, a plan to revitalize the oldest standing S.C. mill through a mixed-use development was announced. Conestee Mill (Cherokee for “running water”) will bring back a thriving community to the mill – with 65 apartments in addition to townhomes, restaurants and a brewery, retail, office space, and direct access to the Prisma Health Swamp Rabbit Trail and Lake Conestee Nature Park.
Parts of the mill complex are already up for lease – take a glimpse inside the available space here.
Located off of what is now Spanco Drive + backing up to Lake Conestee Nature Park, the mill came to life in the early 19th century, creating needed textile jobs for Greenvillians and supporting a bustling mill village in the area. The mill closed its doors for good in 1971, and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2014.
