Travel back in time in Greenville with Google Street View

We cover Greenville’s changing landscape every single day, but we also love to look back. We used Google Street View to remember how some of Greenville’s most prominent landmarks looked almost 20 years ago.

Greenville is constantly changing and evolving, as recently as City Tavern opening with its new facade this week, but thanks to the internet, the blue building lives on forever.

If you’re feeling nostalgic, you can use the Google Street View tool to find a specific address, see the most recent Google images, and see how that location looked in previous years.

Here’s how to use it:

  1. Grab the yellow figure (known as Pegman) from the bottom right and drop it on the map.
  2. Look around + click “see more dates” in the black box on the upper left.
  3. Watch the transformation as you choose different dates.

We played around with it for about 30 minutes, and here were some of the most dramatic changes we found:
